Use OKRs to escape ticket-count management
Write data-team OKRs that measure outcomes such as adoption, trust, cycle time, and decision quality rather than task volume.
The move: make the scoreboard about changed business behavior. OKRs work because they create a line between aspiration and evidence. The objective says what improvement matters. The key results say how the team will know that improvement is real. In data-team management, this prevents the common drift into counting outputs: dashboards shipped, models trained, tickets closed, stakeholders served. A better data OKR names the business system the team wants to improve.
