Classify focus work by urgency and importance, then schedule important-not-urgent work.
Urgency is loud; importance is quiet. The Eisenhower Matrix asks two questions: is this important, and is it urgent? Deep focus belongs where importance is high and urgency is not yet forcing the issue. Do now: urgent and important Real deadlines, incidents, and commitments with immediate consequences. Schedule: important and not urgent The work that prevents future fires: planning, analysis, design, writing, learning, and strategic relationship work. Batch or delegate: urgent and less important Fast asks that need movement but not necessarily your best attention. Delete or limit: neither Low-value activity that grows when the calendar has no boundaries.
