The reframe: vague goals create vague work. Specific means a defined patient segment Adult overdue prophy patients at 7 to 13 months is actionable. Improve recall is not. Measurable means one primary number Choose booked visits, contacted patients, accepted treatment, or open hygiene hours. Do not mix all of them into one sentence. Time-bound means the review date is real A weekly target creates a learning loop. The team can inspect what happened and revise the next week. SMART goals are useful in a practice because they convert ambition into a small operating system: owner, list, action, target, review.
