Calculate practical teaching capacity before opening slots
Calculate lesson capacity by accounting for teaching time, buffers, vehicle checks, notes, and WIP limits.
You want to open Saturday slots for three instructors. Each instructor is available 8 hours. A standard lesson is 60 minutes, but each lesson also needs 8 minutes of debrief notes, 5 minutes of vehicle reset, and an average 7-minute pickup or route buffer. Kanban WIP control protects flow by limiting active commitments to what the system can finish predictably. Counting only lesson duration makes the school believe each instructor can teach eight lessons.
