Turn the Grievance Into Interests

Translate grievance positions into interests and options for resolution.

An employee demands a new manager after repeated public corrections. The manager refuses and frames the demand as an ultimatum. Position -> Interest -> Option -> Criteria The common trap is debating the requested solution too early. If HR starts with whether a manager change is possible, both sides harden. The employee hears dismissal, and the manager hears accusation. Interests must be uncovered before options are judged. Position Name each stated demand without accepting or rejecting it: employee wants a new manager; manager wants the reporting line unchanged.
