Separate Ownership From Visibility With RACI
Use RACI to clarify who resolves, who approves, who advises, and who only needs updates during an escalation.
Escalation confusion is usually role confusion. RACI gives a simple operating rule for high-pressure work: Responsible Who is doing the work right now? Accountable Who owns the final call and the result? Consulted Whose input improves the decision before it is made? Informed Who needs updates but is not part of the working decision loop? The trap is treating every interested leader as if they are Accountable. That feels politically safe, but it slows everything down.
