DRABC is a priority order, not a chant. Danger protects the response Before you kneel, scan for electricity, vehicles, chemical exposure, machinery, violence, glass, and slip risks. A rescuer who becomes injured cannot help. Response, Airway, Breathing define the life path If the person responds, you can ask what happened and gain consent. If they do not respond, open the airway and check for normal breathing for no more than 10 seconds. Normal breathing points toward recovery position and monitoring.
