Treat state as a timeline of values

Explain why immutable values reduce coordination problems in shared-state code.

The move: separate the thing from the value it currently has. Teams often say "the account changed" when they mean two different things. The account is the identity: the continuing business entity. The balance, limits, holds, status, and timestamps are state values associated with that identity at specific moments.
