Use a gemba walk to verify glass-production conditions before forming a defect theory.
The move: separate the signal from the story. Start with a question, not a theory A useful gemba walk begins with a focused question: where did the defect first become possible? For glass, that question may take you to the furnace, forehearth, feeder, mold, coating hood, lehr, transfer, inspection, or packing area. The more specific the question, the less likely the walk becomes a vague tour. Follow the product and the standard Walk the path the ware actually takes.
