Do a 7-Minute Job Hazard Analysis
Complete a quick JHA that identifies hazards before the task starts.
A conveyor jam must be cleared quickly, but the stored-energy hazard is not explicit in the SOP. Break the job into steps, identify hazards at each step, then choose controls before work starts. The common trap is writing "be careful during cleaning" instead of naming the energy, access point, and control. Step 1 List the task steps in order: isolate, access, remove, restart. Sequencing prevents the team from jumping straight to the visible jam. Step 2 Name the hazard for each step: unexpected start, sharp edge, stored tension, restart exposure.
