Apply third-person perspective taking to inspect a challenged belief more objectively.
The move: step outside the scene for one minute. Third-person distance is a practical humility tool. It lets you inspect your reasoning without treating every challenge as a verdict on your competence. Instead of asking, "Why are they attacking my work?" ask, "If I were advising a respected colleague, what would I want them to test?" This works because the self-protection system is fast.
