Find the last known clean point
Identify why cyber recovery needs a last-known-clean decision before restoration at scale.
Cyber recovery starts with trust, not speed. When a disk fails, the newest restorable copy is usually attractive. When an adversary has been inside the environment, the newest copy may simply be the fastest way to rebuild the compromise. That is why NIST SP 800-184 treats recovery as a planned, tested, and improved capability rather than a restore button.
