Study, do not merely check
Run an improvement as a PDSA learning cycle with prediction, evidence, and adjustment.
The move: A test without a prediction is just activity with numbers attached. PDSA means Plan, Do, Study, Act. The crucial word is Study. Before trying a change, state the theory: what do we predict will happen, for whom, by when, and what could go wrong? During Do, run the smallest test that can teach you something. During Study, compare actual results to prediction and look for surprises. During Act, adapt, adopt, or abandon the change. The mechanism is learning discipline.
