Make diligence MECE before it gets noisy
Structure early due diligence into non-overlapping workstreams that cover the deal decision.
The move: make the tracker answer the deal question. Diligence teams often confuse more questions with better diligence. MECE structure makes the questions usable. Mutually exclusive Each item needs one primary bucket. That does not mean only one team cares. It means one owner is responsible for turning the finding into a recommendation. Collectively exhaustive The buckets must cover the deal decision. For a basic acquisition, that usually means commercial, financial, legal, operational, people, technology, and integration.
