Design The Program Promise Before The Calendar

Define a mentoring program promise that guides design choices and prevents activity-first planning.

The move: write the promise before the launch plan. A useful mentoring promise has four parts: who the program serves, what change it supports, how the relationship creates that change, and what proof will show progress. This is not branding copy. It is an operating sentence that keeps recruitment, matching, training, monitoring, and evaluation aligned. Participant Name the group precisely enough that you can recruit and screen against it. "Emerging leaders" is broad; "new managers in their first two quarters" is designable. Change Name the behavior, decision, confidence, network, or transition the program is meant to improve.
