Estimate a chart's lie factor and use it to recommend a repair.
Regretted attrition moves from 8.0% to 7.2%, but the chart's truncated baseline makes the visible bar look about 80% smaller. Lie factor = visual effect size divided by data effect size. The common shortcut is to say the chart is fine because both values are labeled. Labels do not change the fact that the visible geometry tells a bigger story.
