Accessibility is a build constraint
Apply the WCAG POUR principles to basic mobile app design and implementation decisions.
The move: treat accessibility as a core requirement. POUR gives you four checks for mobile work. Perceivable: can users detect the content? Check contrast, labels, text scaling, and alternatives. Operable: can users control the app? Check touch targets, focus order, scroll behavior, and non-gesture paths. Understandable: can users predict and recover? Check labels, error messages, and form instructions. Robust: can assistive technology understand the interface? Check semantic roles, accessible names, and platform settings. The beginner mistake is waiting until the end. By then, accessibility problems are embedded in custom components, fixed-height containers, unlabeled icons, and gesture-only flows.
