Start With Access Patterns

Explain why a NoSQL design should start with named access patterns instead of an entity relationship diagram.

A NoSQL table or collection is not a neutral place to store nouns. It is a set of pre-arranged paths through data. When the path matches the product question, the system feels fast and simple. When the path is missing, the team pays through scans, fan-out reads, brittle application joins, or surprise indexes. Use an access-pattern inventory before modeling.
