Embed When the Relationship Is Bounded
Distinguish bounded embedding from risky unbounded nesting in document databases.
Embedding is a performance tool, not a default style. It collapses a read path by storing related facts together. That is valuable when the relationship is naturally small and the parent screen needs the child facts every time. The warning sign is an unbounded or independently changing child. A growing activity log, comment stream, message list, or telemetry series can make the parent document large and write-heavy. At that point the clean nested shape becomes an operational liability.
