Calculate One Shift OEE Without Losing the Story

Calculate OEE from shift data and interpret which factor needs attention first.

Calculate OEE for a shift with 450 planned production minutes, 72 stop minutes, 420 total units, 392 good units, and 0.75-minute ideal cycle time. OEE = Availability x Performance x Quality The common shortcut is to jump straight to one percentage and miss which factor is actually limiting the shift. Availability Run time = 450 - 72 = 378 minutes. Availability = 378 / 450 = 84.0%. Availability isolates the planned production time that was not lost to stops.
