Do Not Double Count Bad Parts
Calculate performance and quality without double-counting defects or hiding speed loss.
The move: keep each OEE factor responsible for its own loss. Performance should answer a speed question: while the asset was running, how close was total output to the ideal cycle time? Quality should answer a yield question: of what was produced, how much was good the first time? When a report uses only good count in the performance formula, defects are counted once as lost output speed and again as quality loss.
