Keep Schedule Loss Out of the OEE Debate
Distinguish scheduled production time from OEE losses before interpreting a low score.
The move: protect the OEE denominator. OEE is meant to explain effectiveness during planned production time. It is not the same as calendar utilization. If a machine was never scheduled to run, that time can matter for asset strategy, but it should not be treated as an equipment loss inside OEE. This boundary prevents two bad decisions. First, a team will not chase downtime that never occurred. Second, leaders can still discuss unused capacity without distorting the loss map.
