A patent is a trade, not a trophy
Explain the basic patent bargain and distinguish ownership of a patent from permission to practice an invention.
The move: separate the patent bargain from the business promise. A patent works because the public disclosure and the private exclusion right are linked. The application teaches the invention to the public. The issued patent, if granted and maintained, gives the owner a limited right to stop others from commercially exploiting the claimed invention in that jurisdiction. That is why claim language matters more than the product name. A patent titled "Adaptive Cargo Sensor" may not cover every adaptive cargo sensor. It covers what the claims particularly define.
