Diagnose the energy leak with autonomy, competence, and relatedness
Identify whether a motivation drop is tied to autonomy, competence, or relatedness.
The move: do not call every energy dip burnout. Self-Determination Theory gives you three diagnostic lenses. Autonomy asks, 'Where do I have real choice?' Competence asks, 'Can I see progress and improve?' Relatedness asks, 'Do I feel connected to people or purpose here?' Why this helps A vague diagnosis produces random fixes. Taking a day off may help fatigue, but it will not repair a task that feels pointless. More training may help competence, but it will not repair a relationship rupture. Personal leadership means choosing the repair that matches the leak.
