Choose the right zoom level
Use abstract and concrete construal levels deliberately during perspective-taking.
The move: zoom down before you judge, then zoom back up to decide. High-level perspective is useful for meaning. It tells you why a conflict matters: revenue, trust, quality, fairness, strategy. Low-level perspective is useful for accuracy. It tells you what happened: the customer promise, the blocked dependency, the missing handoff, the risk the other person was protecting.
