Don Clean To Dirty
Apply a clean-to-dirty donning sequence so gown, respirator or mask, eye protection, and gloves overlap correctly.
Mei is rushing into an isolation room. Compare the rushed setup with the clean-to-dirty barrier build. Before: gloves first, then clean adjustments become contaminated adjustments. After: gown, respiratory protection, eye protection, gloves - with overlap checked. Gown first because it covers the body and sleeves before contaminated contact begins. Mask or respirator is adjusted while hands are clean, reducing the urge to touch the facepiece later. Eye protection goes on before gloves so mucous-membrane protection is set without contaminated hands near the eyes. Gloves last and over the cuffs, creating continuous coverage at the wrist gap.
