Write the output contract before the prompt
Define a prompt output contract with specific, measurable, assigned, realistic, and time-bound acceptance criteria.
The move: define done before you ask. A prompt output contract is the small set of acceptance criteria that tells the model and the reviewer what usable work looks like. Borrow SMART, but adapt it for AI work: specific output, measurable checks, assigned reviewer or owner, realistic source boundary, and time-bound use case. This does two jobs. First, it improves the model run because the target is concrete. Second, it improves the human workflow because review becomes evidence-based.
