Report what changed
Write a regulatory variance explanation that links movement, driver, and consequence.
The move: write the variance as movement + driver + consequence. A regulatory narrative should answer three questions. Movement: what changed, against what baseline, and by how much? Driver: what caused the change, and what evidence supports that cause? Consequence: why does the change matter for risk, compliance, future performance, or user understanding? This structure prevents two common failures. The first is adjective reporting: significant, favorable, adverse, unusual. Those words label the movement but do not explain it.
