Retrieval practice means bringing learned material back from memory instead of merely looking at it again. The Learning Scientists describe retrieval as recreating something you learned from memory after reading or hearing it. For speed-reading, retrieval is the antidote to false familiarity. A fast pass can make a topic feel known because the words look familiar, but a work meeting needs usable recall. Close the document and write claim, evidence, implication.
