Filter or Hide the Blank?

Filtering changes the data available to the view and to calculations. Hiding changes display without removing the underlying row or column from the calculation context. That distinction matters when a table calculation needs a previous or next value. If you filter the blank first year, the second year no longer has a prior year to compare against. If you hide it, the calculation can still use it while the viewer sees a cleaner table.
