Capacity is bandwidth plus noise

Explain the relationship among bandwidth, signal-to-noise ratio, and practical channel capacity.

The move: stop treating bandwidth as the whole capacity story. A telecom channel carries information by making distinguishable signal choices over time and frequency. Shannon's model makes noise central: the receiver has to recover the intended message from a signal that may be distorted by path loss, interference, and random noise. The Shannon-Hartley idea is the practical headline: capacity rises with bandwidth and with signal-to-noise ratio. This matters in daily telecom work.
