Core idea What is a control chart mainly telling you? Whether process variation is stable over time or showing a signal that deserves investigation. It is not the same thing as a customer specification limit. Do not mix these Specification limit versus control limit A textile process can be in spec but unstable, or stable but centered badly. Objection The point is still inside customer tolerance, so why investigate? A GSM point is inside spec but outside the control limit after a yarn lot change.
