Why negative wording gets remembered
Explain how negativity bias changes the way written tone is received at work.
The tone risk: one negative phrase can become the whole message. Negativity bias means the reader is more likely to notice and remember the sharp, risky, or blame-coded part of your writing. That is useful when a message needs urgency. It is harmful when the negative tone goes beyond the fact. Use a two-part edit. First, keep the negative fact if it matters: missed deadline, incomplete data, unclear ask, broken process. Second, remove extra residue: careless, obviously, failed, unacceptable, as I already said.
