Adapt training delivery for adults by connecting relevance, autonomy, experience, and immediate application.
Adult learning is not simply “make it practical.” It is a delivery stance. Learners bring history, identity, habits, and a need to understand why the training deserves attention. Use four moves: explain the why, activate experience, offer bounded choice, and practice immediately. Explain the why with a real work consequence. Activate experience by asking what learners already do. Offer bounded choice through relevant scenarios or cases. Practice immediately so the session creates behavior, not just agreement.
