Treat probabilities as promises
Explain why probability calibration matters when scores drive thresholds, budgets, or customer commitments.
The move: separate ranking from probability. Rank quality A ranker can be valuable even if its numbers are not literal probabilities. It helps prioritize scarce attention. Calibration quality A calibrated score lets teams make budget, staffing, and risk commitments because score bands match observed rates. Communication quality Never let a stakeholder hear 80 percent risk unless you can show what happened historically to cases scored near 80 percent.
