Use proximity to create visible groups of related UI controls.
A notification settings page has 14 toggles in one equally spaced list. Users confuse security emails, team digest emails, and marketing updates. Use proximity to make related controls feel related before users read every label. The common shortcut is to add more headings while leaving identical spacing everywhere. The page gains words but not visual structure. Before 14 rows, equal gaps, identical toggle alignment, three headings that do little work.
