Sort the bias interruptor by stage

Identify where different bias controls belong in the hiring process.

Sort each intervention into the stage where it belongs most naturally. Early screening Interview stage Debrief or calibration Hide school names or other prestige cues on the first work-sample pass Use the same core questions and anchored notes for every finalist When someone says "not polished enough," ask for the behavior and role standard before discussion continues Score candidates independently before the panel hears everyone else’s preferences Decide which work evidence counts before reading the first application Use follow-up prompts consistently rather than giving favorite candidates a warmer conversation
