Find and fix before harm
Explain how a proactive safety program finds and fixes hazards before they cause injury.
The move: look for the weak signal before the injury. OSHA's recommended practices describe safety and health programs as proactive systems. They work when leaders set expectations, workers participate without fear, hazards are identified, controls are selected, people are trained, and the program is evaluated. The point is not paperwork. The point is a repeatable loop: see the hazard, assess the exposure, control it, and check whether the control held. Use three lenses during normal work.
