Facts, Assumptions, and Inferences

Confidence is not a data type. Facts Facts are observed, measured, timestamped, or directly quoted. They should survive disagreement because someone can inspect the same artifact. Assumptions Assumptions may be smart. They are still unproven. The danger is not having assumptions; the danger is hiding them inside confident language. Inferences Inferences connect facts into meaning. They are useful when they stay provisional and name what evidence would change them.
