Gates Need Evidence, Not Vibes
Define a quality gate with explicit condition, evidence, owner, and decision rule.
The reframe: readiness is not a feeling. People often use gates to ask, Are we comfortable? Quality management asks a more useful question: What evidence says the next step is justified? A gate needs a condition A condition combines a metric, comparator, and threshold. Examples: unresolved severity-one defects equals zero; sampled records with critical-field mismatch equals zero; pilot completion rate is at least 95 percent.
