Label Check Checklist
Recall the main checks for whether a label is usable for supervised learning without importing hidden bias.
Does the label describe an observable outcome or just an internal opinion? Prefer outcomes that can be verified consistently over subjective impressions that vary by person. Subjective labels may still be usable, but they need much harder scrutiny. Which label is stronger? The stronger label is still not automatically fair, but it is more observable and auditable. Was the label created before or after the decision moment where inference must happen? A useful training target can be historical, but your serve-time features must not depend on future information.
