Quick Reference: ORID Question Bank

Recall the four ORID question layers and choose a useful prompt for each.

Objective: what question gets shared facts on the table? What did we observe, hear, measure, or see happen? Use this when the room is arguing from different memories or private data. Reflective: what question surfaces reactions cleanly? What surprised, worried, frustrated, or energized you? Use this when emotion is present but has no legitimate channel. Interpretive: what question helps the group make meaning? What pattern, implication, or tradeoff matters most now? Use this when the group has facts but no shared diagnosis. Decisional: what question converts meaning into motion? What will we do next, who owns it, and by when?…
