RACE Is About Priorities, Not Heroics
Recall and apply RACE response priorities without turning them into heroics.
RACE What does RACE prioritize in a fire response? “It is tiny. I can handle it before pulling the alarm.” Alert first. If it stays small and I have a clear exit, I can try the extinguisher after people are moving. Silent heroics can delay evacuation. It preserves warning and the option to stop. Confine vs. investigate Confine is protective; investigation belongs to trained responders. When does “E” mean extinguish instead of evacuate? Only when trained, alarm active, fire small, correct extinguisher available, and exit clear. If any condition fails, evacuate.
