Read the Top Metric as an Outcome, Not a Weather Report
Read a top-line KPI as a lagging outcome and identify the driver layer before interpreting performance.
Start at the outcome, but do not stop there. The outcome layer A top KPI earns the top position because it represents the result the business cares about. That does not mean it explains itself.
