Your manager says, "The project status readout felt disorganized." Which is the strongest first response? I had to fix a production issue at the same time, so the readout had to be this way. That's a fair point. Which part was disorganized and what would help for the next readout? I don't think anyone uses that format anyway. You're too late on this point; we are at the end of sprint. Option 2 opens a concrete inquiry while taking the issue seriously. Option 1 is excuse-making, option 3 dismisses the feedback, and option 4 escalates conflict without solving anything.
