After-Action Reviews for Weekend Promos

Use an after-action review to turn a retail promotion into operational learning.

A good debrief is not a meeting about feelings; it is a bridge from event to standard. Expected Name the plan clearly: display fill level, staffing trigger, signage timing, attachment target, or recovery standard. Actual Use facts from the event: sales, out-of-stock windows, queue time, customer questions, markdown errors, or labor moves. Difference Ask why the gap happened. The useful answer is usually an assumption, signal, handoff, or resource decision that can be changed. Change Choose what to sustain, what to adjust, and who owns the next check. The review earns its time only when it changes the next play.
