Rewrite the "Busy?" Opener
Rewrite a vague opener into a specific, low-pressure small-talk line.
You want to start light small talk after a colleague leaves a vendor call, but your default opener is "Busy?" Use ORID: start with objective observation, then invite a reflective reaction. "Busy?" is socially easy for you but costly for them. It asks an obvious question and gives no useful thread. Before "Busy?" After "That looked like a long vendor call.
