Run Five Forces Before SWOT

Use Porter five forces as the external scan before turning SWOT observations into risk priorities.

Start outside the company, then come back inside. A confident SWOT can still be strategically blind if it treats the market as background noise. Pressure before fit Porter five forces asks what the industry will do to your margins, pace, and control. It does not ask whether your team is excited. Rivalry, buyer power, supplier power, entrants, and substitutes describe pressure that exists before your plan touches the field.
