Backcast From a Preferred Future

Use backcasting to translate a preferred future into milestones, enabling conditions, and near-term actions.

A company wants net-zero operations by 2032, but its current plan is a list of next-year vendor renewals and small efficiency projects. Backcasting: define the preferred future, step backward through required conditions, then choose near-term actions that keep the path open.
