Apply a four-question spill triage before deciding whether routine cleanup is appropriate.
Use this sequence before anyone touches the spill. Spill Triage Before Cleanup Block access Stop feet, carts, and bystanders from entering the surface. First move Identify material Use the container, SDS, or trained lead. Unknown means escalate. Critical gate Match controls Use the right kit, PPE, ventilation, and trained role. Control fit Reopen when safe Dry, clean, decontaminated, and no guarded hazard remains.
